I have always been morbidly fascinated by Bluebeard because of all the bloody bits, but I don't think anyone wants to hang a painting of bloody bits, so I went for a futuristic hipster wedding portrait thing, because fun.
I know I already said this on your Facebook thread, but I love Bluebeard's intense-as-sh*t stare! The details on the clothing are beautiful, as is the fashion itself--what a wild neck-piece the wife has! And her disheveled look, like she is already thrown into a fit by this marriage. Her eyes looking away are a beautiful detail too--at first I thought she was looking at him, but now I see that the is looking off screen, wondering what is behind the door, and if it is as awful as she thinks it might be. His confidence and control are . . . upsetting to look at. As always, you have woven so much into so little!
